Who We Serve

Turning Injury Data into Action

Partners in Prevention:

The Datalys Center’s core competency is managing injury surveillance programs. To do this, we work with organizations, such as the NCAA and the National Federation of State High School Associations, to collect and report data that can be used to make evidence-based decisions on health and safety.

Your school’s contribution will make a difference. Whether as a part of the NCAA Injury Surveillance Program, High School NATION, or High School RIO, the injury surveillance data you and the other leaders in your organization collect will contribute to furthering the understanding and prevention of sports-related injuries.

Athletic Trainers

The Datalys Center and Athletic Trainers work together to describe injury patterns in sports, which is the first step in systematically understanding how and why injuries occur. None of the Datalys Center’s injury surveillance programs would be possible without the selfless support of countless athletic trainers across multiple levels of sport.

It has never been easier to contribute data. The Datalys Center has created a system that exports common data elements from one of several certified Electronic Health Record applications. This approach allows athletic trainers to document injuries and illnesses as part of their standard clinical practice, eliminating the need to double-enter data for purposes of injury surveillance. Athletic trainers interested in participating in one of our injury surveillance programs can contact the Datalys Center at info@datalyscenter.org or toll-free at 855-832-4222.

Sports Injury Researchers

Datalys Center staff can assist or collaborate with researchers who are interested in implementing injury surveillance or analyzing injury and illness data. If you are interested in working with the Datalys Center, staff are available to discuss your needs Monday through Friday 8am-5pm Eastern toll free at 855-832-4222 or by email at info@datalyscenter.org.

Corporations & Organizations

As industries modernize and the way we work changes, understanding what causes injuries at the facilities that keep our world moving is crucial to preventing them in the future. At the Datalys Center, we specialize in injury surveillance and data-driven research to improve safety outcomes. Originally focused on sports injury prevention, our expertise in large-scale epidemiological research extends to industrial and occupational settings. By analyzing injury trends across industries, we provide actionable insights that help organizations reduce risk, enhance worker safety, and inform policy decisions. We help corporations reduce costly occupational hazards in the workplace, with a focus on employee safety and reducing disruptions that impact productivity.

The services that Datalys can provide are not just beneficial to sports settings. Any Industry that keeps people active must consider the potential for workforce injury. Whether it’s repetitive motion injuries in manufacturing or fatigue and stress trauma in the emergency and medical services sector, understanding what causes these injuries is the first step to determining how to prevent them. Our research approach draws on various data points to identify risk factors for injury and illness. Our guidance can reduce broken bones, back pain, concussions, and other injuries that can happen in active settings. This can reduce downtime and improve the performance of any organization we serve

Parents & Athletes

Datalys Center primarily supports furthering understanding and preventing youth sports injuries and illnesses by carefully managing injury surveillance programs. These programs allow us to work closely with your athlete’s school’s athletic trainers, coaches, and sports professionals to track injuries and illnesses. This surveillance offers a view into what factors could be causing these injuries and how best to prevent them.

By sharing data with the NCAA, NFHS, state high school associations, national governing bodies, other sports organizations, school administrators, coaches, players, and parents, we empower communities to make informed decisions that protect athletes while they pursue their goals.

Injury Surveillance Practicum

The Datalys Center continuously seeks motivated students to join our team as part of an injury surveillance internship/practicum experience. This program provides a unique chance to get practical experience with top researchers in injury surveillance and contribute to meaningful projects promoting public health and sport safety. The Center manages two high school and one collegiate sports injury surveillance systems, which are aimed at improving athlete health and safety through data-driven insights. Students will play a vital role in various stages of research, including data collection, quality assurance, analysis, and dissemination. Specific responsibilities include assisting with data entry and verification, preparing reports and visualizations, conducting literature reviews, and supporting the development of manuscripts and presentations.

This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates with a background in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or related fields.
